The extension operates only on the following domains:

pro.x.com

It may temporarily access or process text content visible on these pages that you explicitly interact with.

We take privacy seriously — we do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

2. Information We Collect

Detective X may collect or process the following types of data:

a. Scraped Text Data

The extension may read publicly available text content from web pages you explicitly interact with.
This text may include social media posts, comments, or other public messages.

We do not collect:

Personal information such as names, emails, or passwords.
Private messages, credentials, or any data from pages requiring authentication (unless explicitly permitted by you through Chrome permissions).

b. Diagnostic Data

To improve functionality and performance, we may collect limited non-personal diagnostic data such as:

Error logs or usage analytics (e.g., which features are used and how often)
Browser version and extension version

You can disable diagnostic data collection in the settings if available.

3. How the Data Is Used

The data collected is used solely for the purpose of analyzing and classifying text to determine whether it appears AI-generated. Specifically:

Text snippets may be temporarily sent to our server or an external machine learning API (e.g., OpenAI API or a custom model endpoint) for scoring.
The returned prediction (e.g., "Likely AI" or "Likely Human" or a percent likelihood) is displayed in your browser.
No personal identifiers are attached to this request.

4. Data Storage and Retention

Temporary Text Processing: The analyzed text is not stored permanently. It is processed in memory and discarded immediately after generating the result.
No User Profiles: Detective X does not create or maintain user-specific profiles.
Optional Aggregates: We may store aggregated, anonymized data (e.g., total number of analyses per day) to monitor overall usage and performance.

All stored data is stripped of any personally identifiable information (PII).

5. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or rent user data.

However, to perform the AI detection analysis, text snippets may be securely transmitted to:

Our own backend server hosted on [e.g., AWS/Azure/Vercel] for preprocessing, caching, or training.
AI model providers (e.g., OpenAI API) solely for inference, not for model training or any external sharing.

Each external provider complies with GDPR and CCPA requirements for data protection.

6. Permissions Used

The Detective X extension may request the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab / scripting: To access the content of the current tab when you activate the extension manually.
storage: To save user preferences (e.g., model threshold settings).

The extension will never access data without direct user action.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect data during transmission and processing:

All communication with servers and APIs uses HTTPS encryption.
No sensitive or private credentials are ever stored or transmitted.
Access to backend systems is restricted and monitored.

8. User Control and Consent

You are in full control:

The extension only activates when you have it enabled.
You can disable or uninstall the extension at any time through Chrome settings.
You may request deletion of any stored aggregated data by contacting us (see below).

9. Children's Privacy

Detective X is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age.
